This Privacy Policy describes how Weather Reports Update handles information when you visit our website. We designed this site to work without collecting personal information from casual visitors.

Information we collect

Weather searches. When you search a city or ZIP code, your query is sent to our weather data provider (Open-Meteo) to return a forecast. We do not store search history on our servers.

Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep short-term logs of IP addresses and request paths for security and abuse prevention.

Contact form. If you send us a message, the name, email address, subject, and message you provide are stored securely in our database so we can read and reply to it. We use these details only to respond to you and never sell or rent them.

Alert email subscriptions. If you sign up for severe-weather alert emails, we store the email address you provide, the location (label and coordinates) you chose, and your minimum severity preference. We use this only to send the alerts you asked for. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your subscription record.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the site to function. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels by default.

Third parties

Forecast data is fetched from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) and official watches, warnings, and advisories come from the US National Weather Service (weather.gov). Alert emails are delivered through our email provider. Please review their respective terms and privacy policies.

Your rights

You may contact us at any time to access, correct, or delete any information you've sent us, and we will action the request. Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and the EU/UK (GDPR) may exercise the rights available to them under those laws through the same contact route.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Advertising

If we display advertising in the future, third-party ad providers may set cookies or use device identifiers to serve and measure ads. We will update this policy and provide opt-out information before any such advertising is enabled.
